The Institute of Leadership and Management is the United Kingdom’s leading professional institute and awarding body specialising in supporting the needs of new or aspiring managers and team leaders.
Courses provided by the College aim to assist participants in gaining the basic knowledge required by a manager and to develop management skills.
Both the Award in First Line Management and the Certificate in First Line Management programmes offered allow the opportunity to study flexibly fitting around your personal work and family commitments.
The Award In First Line Management
The aim of this course is to give those practising or potential managers the foundation for formal development in this role in providing basic knowledge and helping to develop management skills.
A range of units are studied for this course to make up a minimum of 5 credits, with one ‘Mandatory’ unit and a wide range of ‘Optional units’ so that you can tailor the course to meet your, and your organisation’s needs.
This course can be undertaken and completed in four months, although the nature of study does allow you to complete at your own pace. Progression will naturally be on to the Certificate in First Line Management course.
The Certificate In First Line Management
Learners will usually be practising, or aspiring managers. The course involves studying for a minimum of 20 ‘National Credits’, including four ‘Mandatory’ units and a wide range of ‘Optional units’ so that you can tailor the course to meet your, and your organisation’s needs.
Assessment includes a work based Project to provide an opportunity for the learner to apply knowledge and skills gained, to help to bring about practical improvements to a management situation within the organisation.
This course covers the knowledge requirements for an NVQ Level 3 in Management and the assessments may provide evidence towards a portfolio for this qualification.
NVQs Levels 3, 4 and 5 in Management
The College also offers you the opportunity to gain qualifications that recognise and award your competence as a mananger in the work place by offering NVQs in Management at level 3,4 and 5.
These programmes are offered on an individual basis and can be delivered and assessed in your workplace.
